The Dens

🐾 HOW ARE CUB SCOUTS ORGANIZED?

A Cub Scout Pack is divided into smaller groups called dens. Dens are organized by grade level so Scouts can learn, grow, and have adventures with kids their own age.

🦁 LION — Kindergarten
Lions experience Cub Scouting alongside a parent or other caring adult. They complete fun, age-appropriate adventures that introduce them to Scouting, teamwork, the outdoors, and character development.

🐯 TIGER — 1st Grade
Tigers continue participating with an adult partner while becoming more involved in their den. Meetings focus on adventures, games, activities, and experiences that help them earn the Tiger rank.

🐺 WOLF — 2nd Grade
Wolves begin participating more independently. Their den leader guides them through adventures while meetings include games, outdoor activities, skills, service, and plenty of fun.

🐻 BEAR — 3rd Grade
Bear Scouts continue building independence and learning new skills through hands-on adventures. They work toward their Bear rank while developing confidence, responsibility, and teamwork.

⚜️ WEBELOS — 4th Grade
Webelos Scouts begin preparing for the transition into a Scouts BSA troop. Their adventures introduce more advanced outdoor skills, leadership, camping, and opportunities to participate in activities with older Scouts.

🏹 ARROW OF LIGHT — 5th Grade
Arrow of Light Scouts are in their final year of Cub Scouting and focus on preparing to join a troop. They participate in more advanced adventures, camping, leadership, and activities with Scouts BSA troops.
The Arrow of Light is the highest rank in Cub Scouting. A Scout who joins Cub Scouts in fifth grade can begin working toward Arrow of Light without first earning the Webelos rank.

At the end of each school year, Scouts advance to the next den:

Lion → Tiger → Wolf → Bear → Webelos → Arrow of Light

Every year brings new adventures, new skills, greater independence, and new opportunities to grow.
